TermDefinition
What is physical fitness? Physical fitness is your ability to carry out tasks without undue fatigue.
What is agility? the ability to change the body's position efficiently, and requires the integration of isolated movement skills using a combination of balance, coordination, speed, reflexes, strength, and endurance.
What is balance? Balance is an ability to maintain the line of gravity of a body within the base of support with minimal postural sway.
What is coordination? the organization of the different elements of a complex body or activity so as to enable them to work together effectively.
What is speed? The rate at which someone or something is able to move or operate.
What is power? The ability to do something or act in a particular way, especially as a faculty or quality.
What is reaction time? the amount of time it takes to respond to a stimulus.
What is overload? load with too great a burden or cargo.
What is cross-training? the action or practice of training or being trained in more than one role or skill.
What is Gerobic?
What is anarobic relating to, involving, or requiring an absence of free oxygen.
What is warm up? prepare for physical exertion or a performance by exercising or practicing gently beforehand.
What is cool-down? the act or an instance of allowing physiological activity to return to normal gradually after strenuous exercise by engaging in less strenuous exercise.
What is resting heart rate? Your resting heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute while at complete rest.
What is target heart rate? the minimum number of heartbeats in a given amount of time in order to reach the level of exertion necessary for cardiovascular fitness, specific to a person's age, gender, or physical fitness.
What is progression? the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state.
What is specificity? the quality of belonging or relating uniquely to a particular subject.
What is creatine? a compound formed in protein metabolism and present in much living tissue. It is involved in the supply of energy for muscular contraction.
What is Anabolic steroids? a synthetic steroid hormone that resembles testosterone in promoting the growth of muscle. Such hormones are used medicinally to treat some forms of weight loss and (illegally) by some athletes and others to enhance physical performance.
What is cross fit? a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise.
