TermDefinition
Extradition Clause Requires states to send back criminals to states where they have been convicted or to stand trial.
Federal System A government system where the national and state governments share power & get all authority from the people.
New Federalism Proposition made by Reagan having to do with the federal/state relationship. Main point was to return administrative powers to the state governments.
Nullification Belief a state has the right to declare void a federal law.
Privileges and Immunities Clause Guarantees that the citizens of each state are given the same rights as citizens from other states.
Progressive Federalism An approach to federalism that views relations between national & state governments as coercive/cooperative.
Reserved Powers Powers for the states by the 10th Amendment that are found at the foundation of a state's right to legislate for the public health & welfare of its citizens.
Seventeenth Amendment Made senators directly elected by the people removing their selection by state legislatures.
Unitary System A government system where local and regional governments get all authority from a strong national government.
