Logic Express

General parts of Apple Logic Express

TermFunction
Audio Track Contains audio saved or recorded as a waveform
MIDI Track Contains MIDI data to be played through an external MIDI device
Audio Instrument Track Contains MIDI data to be played back using an internal instrument (e.g. EXSP24)
Audio Bus Track A virtual track where audio can be sent for effects
Arrange Window Where audio regions can be organized by tracks and time
Track Mixer Window A virtual audio mixer, controlling volume, pan, and effects
Matrix Edit Window A "piano roll" window to edit MIDI notes
Quantize To align MIDI note data to the time grid
Automation To control volume, pan, or effects settings automatically throughout a track
Solo Play back ONLY solo tracks
Mute Silences a particular track
Record Enable To set up an Audio Track to receive data
Audio Window Displays all waveform audio clips for the project
Time and Pitch Machine Function in the waveform editor to adjust clip length and pitch
Bounce To export the project as a single audio file
Import To add an audio source to the project (must be 16 bit, 44.1 kHz)
Effect Audio function which modifies the output
Filter Audio function which blocks or allows only certain frequencies to reach the output
Transport Window Controls the playback of the audio
Cycle To loop playback of a certain portion of audio material
