Frigg (Frija) Norse goddess of love and marriage. Wife of Odin. "Friday" is based on her name.

Hades Greek god of the underworld. Roman counterpart is Pluto.
Helen Famed Greek beauty whose "face launched a thousand ships." Also known as "Helen of Troy". Was kidnapped by Paris to start the Trojan War.
Hera Greek goddess of marriage and maternity. Zeus's wife. Roman counterpart is Juno.
Heracles Greek hero who personified strength. Completed the Twelve Superhuman Labors of Heracles. Founder of the Olympic Games. Roman counterpart is Hercules.
Hermes Greek god of travelers, commerce, and profit. Messenger of the gods. Roman counterpart is Mercury.
Loki Norse god of mischief.
Melpomene Greek muse of tragedy.
Muses Greek goddesses of memory and poetic inspiration. Apollo's habitual companions.
Odin Supreme god of Norse mythology. "Wednesday" is based on his name. Lived in gold hall called Valhalla.
Perseus Greek hero who rode the winged horse Pegasus. Slayed Medusa, the snake-headed gorgon. Killed a sea monster to save a beautiful princess named Andromeda.
Polyhymnia Greek muse of mimic art.
Poseidon Greek god of the sea. Roman counterpart is Neptune.
Prometheus Greek titan who lived on Olympus. Stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans.
Satyrs Half man, half goat creatures associated with Dionysus, indulgence, and sensuality.
Sirens Sea monsters with women's heads. Sirens' songs lured sailors and travelers to their death.
Terpsichore Greek muse of lyric poetry and dance.
Thalia Greek muse of comedy.
Theseus Not a god but a Greek hero who slayed the Minotaur of Crete in the Labyrinth.
Thor Norse god of thunder. "Thursday" is based on his name. Thunder was caused from chariot wheels and thunderbolts were his fiery weapons.
Tiw (Tyr) Norse god of war. "Tuesday" is based on his name.
Urania Greek muse of astronomy.
Valkyries Norse superwomen who served the gods in Valhalla. Tremendous warriors.
Zeus Supreme god of Greek mythology. Lived on Mt. Olympus. Roman counterpart is Jupiter.
Titans The first divine race. Ultimately honored as ancestors of humans. Credited with the invention of the arts and of magic.
Cronus Son of titans. Married his sister, Rhea. They gave birth to three daughters - Hestia, Demeter and Hera and three sons - Poseidon, Hades and Zeus. Roman counterpart - Saturn.
Prometheus Created humans from earth and water. Though a titan, he was allowed to live on Olympus.
Pandora The first woman. Created by all the divinities. Unleashed terrible afflictions which spread over the earth.
Artemis Agricultural deity. Goddess of the chase and of the forests. Associated with moonlight. Apollo's twin sister. Roman counterpart - Diana
Eros Youngest of the gods, a winged child, gracious and rebellious. Armed with bow and arrows which caused people to fall in love. Roman equivalent - Cupid.
Orion Beautiful, giant son of Mother Earth. Passionate hunter, accompanied by his dog, Sirius. Banished to live in the sky, and now an easily recognized constellation.
Tritons Strange sea creatures, half men, half fish with scales, sharp teeth, claws, fins and forked tails. Hedonistic and lascivious.
Charybdis and Scylla Dwelt in same Sicilian sea as the Sirens. Charybdis, daughter of Poseidon and the earth, was a whirlpool who swallowed ships. Scylla, once a beautiful woman, was changed into a monster, with six ugly heads.
Demeter Goddess of the earth and the underworld, represents motherhood and fertile cultivated soil. Mother earth. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Roman counterpart - Ceres.
Pan Son of Hermes. Not a satyr, though he also was half-goat. Shepherd god of woods and pastures, protector of shepherds and flocks.
Persephone Daughter of Demeter, wife of Hades. Part of the underworld and part on earth, therefore associates with seasons of the year and myths of regenerations. Roman counterpart - Proserpina.
Oedipus Son of King of Thebes. Unwittingly killed his father and married his mother which caused him to blind himself. Answered the riddle of the Sphinx.
Orpheus One of the few Greek heroes not known for warlike exploits. Son of Apollo, sang and played the lyre so beautifully that trees and savage beasts would follow him. Performed miracles on the voyage of the Argonauts to find the Golden Fleece.
Sigmund A hero not a god. Pulled sword from tree trunk in which Odin had placed it. Died at Odin's insistence.
Sigurd Sigmund's son, inheritor of the sword. Sometimes known as Siegfried.
Mimir A water demon. Odin's uncle and wisest counselor. Lived by the roots of the ash tree Yggdrasil known as the "world tree." Lived in a fountain in which all wisdom and knowledge were hidden.
Kvasir Made from the mingled saliva of the two races of gods - Aesir and Vanir. Surpassed all men i wisdom. He was killed and his blood was mixed with honey - drinker would become a sage and poet.
Jord The earth goddess. Thor's mother.
Magni and Modi Thor's sons. Magni was strength and Modi was anger.
Idun The goddess who owned the magic apples which gave all of the gods and goddess eternal youth and immortality.
Heimdall God of light. Presided over ambiguous beginning of things. Guardian of all the gods.
Balder Son of Frigg. So beautiful he shed radiance all around himself. Wisest and favorite of gods.
Njord A Vanir rather than an Aesir. Peaceful, benevolent and mighty. Provided fields and pastures with sun and rain. God of harvests, game, riches, commerce and navigation. Guarantor of oaths.
Freja Female equivalent of Frey - his sister. Lived in Folkvang, a rich dwelling in the sky where she received the deceased warriors and assigned them seats in her banqueting hall. First and supreme commander of the Valkyires.
Skadi Njord's wife. Daughter of a giant.
Gerda Frey's wife, also the daughter of a giant.
