line | a straight path extending forever in both directions |
point | an exact location in space |
line segment | a part of a line with two endpoints |
ray | a part of a line with one endpoint that continues in one direction |
angle | two rays with a common endpoint |
right angle | an angle that measures 90 degrees |
degree | a unit of measure for angles |
acute angle | an angle less than 90 degrees |
obtuse angle | an angle greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees |
intersecting lines | lines that cross to form angles |
perpendicular lines | lines that cross to form right angles |
parallel lines | lines that never cross |
Venn diagram | a diagram that shows the relationships among sets |
DPI | is the number of dots (or pixels - PPI) that fit horizontally and vertically into a one-inch measure. The more dots per inch, the more detail is captured and the sharper the image. |
density | The higher the density of an image, the greater the opacity. The lower the density, the more transparent the image is. |
obtuse | angle larger than 90 |
rotate | A function within graphic software that enables a user to rotate an image or pixel by any number of degrees |
acute | less than 90 |
square | rectangle with 4 equal sides |
Blocking | Sticking together of printed sheets causing damage when the surfaces are separated. |
rulers | Alignment or measurement aids found in page layout software. |
resolution | The resolution of an image is an important factor in determining the attainable output quality. The higher the resolution of an image, the less pixilated it will be and the curves of the image will appear smoother. |
Fiber | filaments of plant tissue, such as cottom fiber and wood fiber. Some specialty papers may contain synthetic fibers, such as rayon or nylon. see also ingredients of paper. |
