Nuclear Fusion   The process by which nuclei of small atoms combine to form a new, more massive nucleolus; the process release energy

Sunspot   A dark area of the photo-sphere of the sun that is cooler than the surrounding areas and that has a strong magnetic field.

Solar Flares   An explosive release of energy that comes from the sun and that is associated with magnetic field.

Prominence   A loop of relatively, incarnates gas that extends above the photosphere and above the sun's edge as seen from Earth.

Corona   The rarefied gaseous envelope of the sun and other stars. The sun's corona is normally visible only during a total solar eclipse when it is seen as an irregularly shaped pearly glow surrounding the darkened disk of the moon.

Chromosphere   A reddish gaseous layer immediately above the photo sphere of the sun or another star. Together with the corona, it constitutes the star's outer atmosphere.
