Gender of nouns... A noun is either masculine or feminine.   Nouns ending in -o are usually masculine, those ending in -a are usually feminine, and nouns that end in -e can be either (memorize these with their articles).

Notes: Nouns ending in -ore or a consonant are masculine (ie: il fiore, il dottore, lo scultore, autobus, sport, bar)

Nouns ending in -ione are generally feminine. (ie: la lezione, la presentazione, la conversazione)

Plural of nouns...In Italian, the plural is usually formed by changing the final vowel of the noun....   -o turns to -i (un libro, i libri); -a turns to -e (una casa, le case); -e turns to -i (un dottore, i dottori; una stazione, le stazioni)

Notes: 1. some nouns are invariable and don't change in the plural. a. nouns ending in accented vowels (una citta, due citta; un caff'e, due caff'e) b. ending in a consonant (un bar, due bar; un film, due film) c. nouns that are abbreviated (un cinema
