| Term | Definition |
| Deposition | After the sand grains have formed as a result of weathering and transportated they are deposited and accumulate. |
| Erosion | removal of loose rocks. This can be caused by gravity, turning or moving water, glacial ice, wind and living organisms. |
| Dune | a mound, hill, or ridge windblown sand. |
| Plateau | a nearly level area that has been uplifted. |
| Frost or ice wedging | water seeps into cracks in the rock and freezes the rock is wedged or broken apart. |
| Abrasion | rock particles are moved by other rocks or by wind,water,and glacial ice.The abrasion is just like sand paper scrapping the rocks and disloging (breaking off) small particles of rock. |
| Sheeting | this happens when overlyng rocks rocks erode and this releases th pressure on the rocks below . It breaks the rocks below and peels off like an onion. |
| Living organisms | roots exert pressure on the rocks and they search for minerals and water. The roots wedge apart the rocks. Burrowing organisms and human contruction all blast apart rocks. |
