| decimal | a number written in standard, base-10 notation that contains a decimal point |
| decimal point | a dot used to separate the ones and tenths places in decimals |
| tenth | 1 of 10 equal parts of something; first place value spot to the right of the decimal point |
| hundredth | 1 of 100 equal parts of something; second place value spot to the right of the decimal point |
| thousandth | 1 of 1000 equal parts of something; third place value spot to the right of the decimal point |
| expanded form | a way of writing a number as the sum of the values of each digit |
| standard form | the most familiar way of representing numbers |
| compare | determine which value is greater than, less than, or equal to another value |
| order | compare or list values from least to greatest or greatest to least |
| round | use the next higher value place to locate the nearest whole number, tenth, hundredth, or thousandth to a given number |
| addend | any one of a set of numbers that are added |
| algorithm | a set of step-by-step instructions for solving a problem |
