Tense | Definition |
Present Subjunctive | used in the subordinate clause when the verb in the main clause of a sentence that requires the subjunctive is in the present or future. |
Conditional | used to describe what would happen or what someone would do under certain circumstances. |
Past Perfect | used to express the event that happens first in a sequence of events. |
Passive Voice | used to state that something is done or has been done to someone or something. |
Past Progressive | used to describe past actions in progress. |
Past Subjunctive | used in the subordinate when the verb in the main clause of a sentence that requires the subjunctive is in the past or conditional. |
Present Perfect Subjunctive | used to express an emotion, judgement, doubt, or hope about something that has happened. |
Preterite | used to show that events began or were completed in the past and to view past actions as a completed whole. |
