| prey | The organism that is eaten by a predator. |
| parasite | An organism that lives on or in an organism of another species. |
| host | An organism that a parasite lives in or on. |
| abiotic | All of the non-living things in an ecosystem |
| biotic | All of the living things in an ecosystem |
| runoff | Rain that drains or flows from the land into a stream or river. |
| pollution | Harmful substances or products in the environment. |
| trait | A characteristic passed down from parent to offspring through their DNA. |
| coral reef | Large formations of living organisms that support a large amount of the ecosystem. |
| photosynthesis | Process where producers use energy from sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. |
| symbiosis | relationship between two different organisms living in close physical association. |
| commensalism | A relationship between two organisms where one benefits and the other neither benefits or is harmed. |
| parasitism | A relationship between two organisms where one is harmed and the other benefits. |
| mutualism | A relationship between two organisms where both benefit. |
