HESI math review practice questions, definitions

What is the definition of "digit" ? Any number 1-9 and 0
What is the definition of "place value" ? The value of the position of a digit in a number. i.e. ones, tens, thousands hint: 1 ten = 10 ones, 1 hundred = 100 ones, 1 thousand = 1000 ones
Provides the DIFFERENCE between two numbers Subtraction
Also known as repeated addition Multiplication
The "product" is the answer to what type of math problems ? Multiplication
In what type of math problem(s), is Zero used as a placeholder to keep the problem aligned ? Multiplication
What is the "dividend" ? The number being divided. i.e. 45 divided by 5, 45 is the dividend
What is the "divisor" ? The number by which the dividend is divided. i.e. 45 divided by 5, 5 is the divisor
The "quotient" is the answer to what kind of math problem ? Division problem
The portion of the dividend that is not evenly divisible by the divisor. Remainder
It is best not to leave a division problem with a remainder but to end as ? (2 ways) 1.) a fraction 2.) decimal
When adding a decimal point and zeros at the end of the dividend, if the remainder continues, round to what nearest "place"? The hundredths place. i.e. 233.547 = 233.55
