point an exact location in space
line an endless collection of points along a straight path
line segment part of a line that has two endpoints
ray part of a line that has one endpoint and extends endlessly in the other direction
plane an endless, flat surface that is named by any three points not on the same line
intersecting lines lines that cross at one point
parallel lines lines in the same plane that never intersect
perpendicular lines two lines that intersect at right angles
right angle an angle with a measurement of 90 degrees
acute angle an angle with a measure less than 90 degrees
obtuse angle an angle with a measure greater than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees
straight angle an angle with a measurement of 180 degrees
polygon a closed figure made up or three or more line segments
triangle has three sides and three angles
quadrilateral has four sides and four angles
pentagon has five sides and five angles
hexagon has six sides and six angles
octagon has eight sides and eight angles
regular polygon all sides have equal length and all angles have equal measure
equilateral triangle a triangle with all sides and angles equal
scalene triangle a triangle that has no congruent (equal) sides
isosceles triangle a triangle where two sides are the same length
