2nd SW Test Academic Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Antonym Words that mean the opposite Example: Hot and Cold
Paragraph A section, or part, of a story. These are numbered throughout the story.
Summary The important information from the beginning, middle, and end of the story
Idiom A type of figurative language that does not mean what you are saying. Example: It's raining cats and dogs. = It's raining really hard.
Constructed Response A question that you answer in complete sentences using the RACE strategy.
R.A.C.E. Strategy We use this for short constructed response answers. R- restate A- answer C- cite the evidence E- example
Imagery Mental picture
Helps the reader imagine Helps the reader picture what's happening in their mind
Selection The whole passage/story
Multiselect A question where there are multiple (usually two) correct answers to choose
Multipart A question that has a Part A and Part B
