Complications (ADRs) | GI Upset heartburn nausea vomitting Anorexia Salicylism toxicity - tinnitus (hearing damage) risk of bleeding |
Contraindications | Allergy to NSAIDS or Salicylates Bleeding Disorders GI Bleeding Children or teens who have influenza or chickenpox (Reye syndrome) Avoid 1 week before surgery |
Precautions | Older people lactating hepatic or renal disease pre exisiting hypoprothrombinemia Vitamin K defiency Peptic Ulcers Diabetes Gout |
Interactions | Anticoagulant - Increased risk for bleeding NSAIDS - increased serum levels Activated charcoal -decreased absorption of salicylates Antacids - decreased effects of salicylates Carbonic anhydrase -increased risk of salicylism Food - increased ADRs |
