extinct volcano | Unlikely to erupt again. |
hot spring | Groundwater heated by a nearby body of magma rises to the surface and forms a natural pool |
geyser | A fountain of water and a steam that erupts from the ground. |
geothermal | Water heated by water can provide a clean, reliable energy source. |
shield volcano | A wide gently sloping mountain. |
cinder cone volcano | A steep, cone-shaped hill or mountain. |
composite volcano | A tall cone-shaped mountain in which layers of lava alternate with layers of ash. |
active volcano | A volcano that is currently erupting |
