HOW DO YOU CONVERT A FRACTION INTO A DECIMAL? DIVIDE THE NUMBERATOR BY THE DENOMINATOR.
WHAT IS THE KEY STEP THAT MUST BE PERFORMED IN ORDER TO ADD OR SUBTRACT UNLIKE FRACTIONS? FIND THE LEAST COMMON DENOMINATOR.
HOW DO YOU DIVIDE ONE FRACTION BY ANOTHER? INVERT THE SECOND FRACTION AND MULTIPLY ACROSS.
HOW CAN YOU CONVERT A DECIMAL INTO A PERCENT? MULTIPLY THE DECIMAL BY 100 AND ADD A PERCENT SIGN. OR MOVE THE DECIMAL OVER TWO SPACES TO THE RIGHT AND ADD A PERCENT SIGN.
HOW DO YOU CONVERT A FRACTION INTO A PERCENT? CONVERT IT INTO A DECIMAL, TIMES THE DECIMAL BY 100, AND ADD A PERCENT SIGN.
HOW DO YOU CHANGE A DECIMAL INTO THE NEAREST EQUIVALENT FRACTION? PLACE THE DECIMAL OF ITS PLACE VALUE. REDUCE IF ABLE. EX: 0.8 IS THEN 8/10 WHEN REDUCED = 4/5.
WHAT ARE TWO DIFFERNT WAYS THAT A RATIO MAY BE EXPRESSED? (1) AS A FRACTION (2) BY USING A COLON (:) BETWEEN THE NUMBERS (3) BY USING THE WORD "TO" BETWEEN THE NUMBERS.
WHAT IS A PROPORTION? A STATEMENT OF EQUALITY BETWEEN TWO OR MORE RATIOS.
WHAT IS MEANT BY THE ROOT OF A NUMBER? A ROOT IS TWO OR MORE EQUAL SMALLER NUMBERS THAT, WHEN MULTIPLIED TOGETHER, EQUAL THE SPECIFIED NUMBER. EX. 4X4 IS A ROOT OF 16 ----- 4^2----- 4 TO THE POWER OF 2
HOW DO YOU FIND THE SQUARE OF A NUMBER? GIVE AN EXAMPLE. MULTIPLY THE NUMBER BY ITSELF. EX. 4X4 IS A ROOT OF 16 ----- 4^2----- 4 TO THE POWER OF 2
WHAT IS A COMMON METHOD OF MAKING COMPUTATIONS INVOLVING VERY LARGE OR VERY SMALL NUMBERS MORE MANAGEABLE? CONVERT THE NUMBERS INTO SCIENTIFIC NOTATION, BY USING POWERS OF 10. EX. 100,000 IN SCIENTIFIC NOTATION IS 10^5. (NOTE) COUNT THE NUMBER OF ZEROS AND THAT WILL BE YOUR POWER NUMBER.
HOW IS 100,000 EXPRESSED AS A POWER OF 10? 10^5 OR TEN (10) TO THE POWER OF FIVE (5) EX. 100,000 IN SCIENTIFIC NOTATION IS 10^5. (NOTE) COUNT THE NUMBER OF ZEROS AND THAT WILL BE YOUR POWER NUMBER.
WHAT FORMULA IS USED TO FIND THE AREA OF A RECTANGLE AND OF A TRIANGLE? AREA OF A RECTANGLE: AREA (A) =LENGTH (L) X WIDTH (W) A = L X W AREA OF A TRIANGLE: AREA (A) = 1/2 (BASE (B) X HEIGHT (H)) A = 1/2 (B X H)
DEFINE PI (π). PI IS A CONSTANT THAT EXPRESSES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CIRCUMFRANCE OF A CIRCLE AND ITS DIAMETER. PI IS APPROXIMATELY EQUAL TO 3.1416.
DECRIBE A TRAPEZOID. A TRAPEZOID IS A CLOSED, FOUR-SIDED FIGURE HAVING TWO PARALLEL SIDES AND TWO NON-PARALLEL SIDES. ⏢
WHAT IS THE FORMULA FOR COMPUTING THE AREA OF A CIRCLE? AREA OF A CIRCLE: AREA (A) = PI (π) X RADIUS SQUARED (r^2) A = πr^2
