Biotic living organisms that are part of an environment.
Abiotic non-living factors in an environment such as temperature, light, water, and nutrients
Ecosystem made up of the interaction of all living organisms (like animals, plants, and bugs) in an area with all of the non-living organisms (like water, dirt, rocks, and the sun).
habitat the home of an animal or a plant.
Organism a living thing that can function on its own
Population the number of people living in a certain place.
Community a group of people living or working together in the same area.

Producer create, or produce, goods and provide services
Consumer the people who buy goods and services.
Decomposer an organism (as a bacterium or a fungus) that feeds on and breaks down dead plant or animal matter.
Herbivore an organism that feeds mostly on plants
Carnivore an organism that eats mostly meat, or the flesh of animals
Scavenger any animal that eats refuse and decaying organic matter.
grassland grasslands are open and continues they are also fairly flat areas of grass.
rainforest rainforests have dense canopies of vegetation that form three diferent layers. They also have very tropical weather and lots of preciitation.
desert some deserts are mountaianous while others are dry expanses of rock, sand, or salt flats. the desert is very hot whith little precipitation
omnivore an organism that eats both meat and vegetatiion
predator an organism that eats another organism
prey an organism that is eaten
niche an organism that has a role in it's ecosystem
biome A biome is a large area characterized by its vegetation, soil, climate, and wildlife.
Terrestrial Ecosystem a land-based community of organisms and the interactions of biotic and abiotic
Deciduous Forest a tye of forest that has trees that leaves fall and change color
Grassland a flat open land with lots of grass
Rainforest an ecosystem that has tropical weather and lots of greenery and plants
Desert a very hot ecosystem coverd with sand
Aquatic ecosystem an ecosystem that is coverd or in water
freshwater water without salt
Saltwater ecosystem water that has salt in it
Pond a small body of water surrounded by land
Lake a larger body of water surounded by land
River/Stream a flowing body of water that flows to a much larger body of water
Ocean a saltwater body of water. it is the largest tye of body of water
Saltmarsh a body of land that has been flooded by water
Estuary where saltwater and freshwater meeet and flow into the larger body of water
Food Chain the order in which organisms, or living things, depend on each other for food
Primary consumer animals that eat plants.
Secondary consumer those that consume the primary consumers (herbivores)
Tertiary consumer those that eats the secondary consumers
