What is the name of the light adjuster on a microscope? and how much light is needed? Iris Diaphragm, Minimum light is needed
How much adjustment is needed on a microscope. Why? Slight adjustment, because the focal points of the lenses are coordinated
Does the color of cells change with the different lenses? Yes
Does the size of field change? Yes
Why are microscope objective lenses parfocal? Parfocal means you can switch from one objective lens to another, only minor changes with the fine adjustment will be needed
Which objective lens focuses the closest? Oil Immersion lens
Which controls the amount of light reaching the ocular lens? Iris Diaphragm
Is your lens corrected for chromatic abberations? Yes if achromatic is written on the objective lens
What are the shapes of bacteria? Rods, Coccus, & spiral bacteria
How do you convert mm to um? 1mm=1000 um
Name two ways in which you can enhance resolving power? Use Light source shorter wavelength, Use an objective lens of the same magnification but larger diameter lens. Use immersion oil.
what are the advantages of the low power objective over the oil immersion objective for viewing fungi or algae larger field, greater depth & allow more of organism to be seen
what could happen if water where accidentally put instead of oil immersion? Light rays would refract & insufficient light would reach the ocular lens
