Author's Craft

QuestionAnswer
What is an author's tone? Indicates the writer's mood, voice, and attitude. Often this is described by adjectives.
What is foreshadowing? A technique where future events in a story, or sometimes the outcome, are suggested or hinted to by the author before they happen. It is a method used to build suspense by providing hints of what is to come.
What are flashbacks? Interrupts the plot of a story and goes back to a past event. When a story is told in this, it's usually done to show how something or someone was before the story took place.
What is tone? A manner of expression suggesting a general quality or atmosphere. Like mood, this must be inferred through the use of descriptive words.
What is mood? A state of mind or emotion often expressed in writing through the use of descriptive adverbs and adjectives.
