what is the definition of bicameral? two-house
Who are Anti-Federalists people who oppose the constitution
what are reserved powers? powers that the constitution neither give to congress nor the states
what is federalism federalism is the division of power between the states and the national government
what are checks and balances? The system which gives each branch of government ways to limit the power of the other two.
What is the 3/5 compromise? a compromise stating that each slave would be counted as 3/5 of a person when a state's population was calculated.
What is the Virginia Plan? the plan that each state's population would determine the number of it's representatives.
What is the New Jersey Plan? the plan that called for a one house legislature in which each state would have an equal number of votes.
Who proposed the Virginia plan? James Madison
Who proposed the New Jersey plan? William Patterson
What is the Great Compromise? the compromise stating that each side gave up a part of what it wanted in order to benefit all.
What is the state convention?
Name 3 of the goals for the country which were stated in the Constitution provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and establish justice.
What are concurrent powers? powers shared by the federal and state governments.
