shriveled [shriv-uh l] verb (used with object), 1. to contract and wrinkle, as from great heat, cold, or dryness. 2. to wither; make or become helpless or useless.
hammock [ham-uh k] noun a hanging bed or couch made of canvas, netted cord, or the like, with cords attached to supports at each end.
warden [wawr-dn] noun 1. a person charged with the care or custody of persons, animals, or things; keeper. 2. the chief administrative officer in charge of a prison.
recovering [ri-kuhv-er] verb Return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength: "Neil is still recovering from shock"; "the economy has begun to recover". 2. (of a person) Be well again.

gypsy [jip-see] noun a member of a nomadic people who migrated originally from India, settled in parts of Asia, Europe, and North America.
curse [kurs] noun the expression of a wish that misfortune, evil, or doom, befall a person/group a formula or charm intended to cause misfortune to another.
descendants [dih-sen-duh nt] noun a person or animal that is descended from a specific ancestor; an offspring.
perseverance [pur-suh-veer-uh ns] noun steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
neglected [ni-glekt] verb 1. to pay no attention or too little attention to; 2. to fail to carry out or perform (orders, duties, etc.): to neglect the household chores.
barren [bar-uh n] adj. unproductive; unfruitful land.
