1st Amendment | freedom of religion, freedom of speecdh, freedom of the press, and the right for people to assemble (get together in groups) |
2nd Amendment | Right to bare arms (right to carry a gun) |
3rd Amendment | No one can be forced to let military personnel stay in their home. |
4th Amendment | No search and seizure without a search warrent |
5th Amendment | A person does not have to testify against himself (no self-incrimination), a person cannot be charged with the same crime twice. a person's property can't be taken from him without receiving money for the property. |
6th Amendment | You have a right to a speedy trial, You have the right to be told what the charge is and who has accused you. You can have a lawyer. |
7th Amendment | If a person sues for more than $20.00, the case may be decided by a jury. |
8th Amendment | No cruel or unusual punishment, no excessive fines |
9th Amendment | People have other rights that are not listed here. ("The Enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.") |
10th Amendment | Any powers that are not specifically given to the national government (federal government) will be given to the individual states to decide on. |
