Capitalism An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.
Socialism Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
Communism A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
Fascism A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
Imperialism The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations.
Colonialism A policy by which a nation maintains or extends its control over foreign dependencies.
Terrorism The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
Nationalism The belief that people should be loyal to their nation, the people with whom they share land, culture, and history.
Mercantilism The practice, methods, or spirit of merchants; commercialism.
Isolationism A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.
