SAT Vocabulary for Unit 1

TermDefinition
actuality noun. The state of being actual or real; truly existing.
applicable adjective. Readily usable; practical.
authenticity noun. The quality or condition of being authentic, trustworthy, or genuine.
bona fide adjective. 1). Authentic and genuine. 2). Made and carried out in good faith.
categorical adjective. 1). Without exception; absolute and explicit. 2). Of or relating to categories or arrangement or order.
defensible adjective. Justifiable for accuracy.
factual adjective. Of the nature of fact; real.
genuine adjective. Not counterfeit, but authentic; honest and real; free from hypocrisy or dishonesty; sincere.
invulnerable adjective. Impossible to damage or enter; not able to alter the reality.
legitimacy noun. The quality of being legitimate - authentic, genuine, and according to the law.
materiality noun. 1). The state of being material. 2). Being of real or substantive quality.
pragmatic adjective. Dealing with facts, reality, and actual occurrences.
real McCoy noun. An authentic thing or quality; something that is not an imitation or a substitute.
tangible adjective. Possible to touch; possible to be treated as fact; real or concrete.
tenable adjective. Capable of being maintained; able to be maintained because of genuineness.
truism noun. Self-evident truth, actuality, and reality.
unassailable adjective. Undeniable, actual, and authentic.
valid adjective. Real, authentic, correct; sound and well grounded.
veracity noun. Adherence to the truth, reality, accuracy, and precision.
veritable adjective. Being truly so-called; real or genuine.
