Internet service provider (ISP) | A company that provides access to the Internet, usually for a monthly fee. |
Web browser | A software program that can surf the Web and Internet with Web sites |
electronic mail (e-mail) | A communication sent form one person to anoyhe over the Internet. |
netiqutte | The rules or manners used in electronic communications |
spam | Unwanted e-mail sent by an unknown person or business |
firewall | Hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruters, esoecially from over the internet. |
home page | The first Web page an Internet browser is set to access when open. |
drill down | To move from general infornation to more detailed information by exploring a series of folders, drop-down menus, or the web pages. |
site map | An index of the main pages in a Web site, used to jump straight to a page without drilling down. |
bookmark | A shortcut that takes you directly to a web page. |
Favorites | Internet Explorer's term for Web site book marks. |
Histroy | A record kept by a browser of every web page visited in the past few days or weeeks. |
Print Preview | A browser function used to see how a document or Web page is going to appear on a paper. |
search engine | A web site used to seek out other web page using keywords. |
Boolean search | A search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find more exact results. |
