Term | Definition |

Archipelago | A series of islands. |
Bog | A wet, spongy ground with soil composed mainly of decayed vegetable matter. |
Delta | A landform that is formed at the mouth of a river where that river flows into an ocean, sea, lake, or another river. |
Fjord | A long narrow arm of the sea bordered by river, steep cliffs: usually formed by glacier erosion. |
Flood Plain | An area of low-lying ground adjacent to a river. |
Glacier | A slowly moving mass or river of ice formed by the accumulation and compactation of snow. |
Island | A piece of land out in lake or the ocean. |
Isthmus | When the sea is separated by only a narrow strip of land. |
Peninsula | Land that sticks out into the sea. |
Plain | A large area of flat land with few trees. |
Plateau | An area of relatively level high ground. |
Rifts | Form fissures, cracks or breaks. |
Strait | The water between an island and the mainland |
Tributary | A river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake |
