Parts of a business letter

Block Style | Everything starts at the left margin |
Date line | date the letter is keyed |
Inside address | person to whom the letter is going |
Salutation | Greeting of the letter |
Body | paragraphs of the letter |
Complimentary Close | closing of letter |
Writer's identification | name and address |
Mixed punctuation | Colon after salutation and comma after complimentary close |
copy | Word places a duplicate copy in the clipboard |
cut | Word removes it from the original location and places the deleted text in the clipboard |
go to | provides ways to navigate through longer documents quickly |
gridlines | provide a grid of vertical and horizontal lines that help you align graphics and other objects |
multi-selection | enable you to select multiple text items that are not adjacent |
navigation pane | appears in the left side of the window when you select its command in the show group |
paste | pastes text from the clipboard to a new location |
replace | command to replace one word or phrase with another |
rulers | measuring tools to align text, graphics, and other elements used within a document |
scroll bar | use to move up or down or side to side with a document |
scroll box | to move through a document even faster |
scroll buttons | move up or down one line at a time |
thumbnails | tiny images of your document pages |
wildcards | characters to find words or phrases that contain specific letters or combinations of letters |
