| וַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה | so on the seventh day he rested from all his work /就在第七日歇了他一切的工、安息了 |
| וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־י֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י | Then God blessed the seventh day /神賜福給第七日 |
| וַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁ אֹת֑וֹ כִּ֣י ב֤וֹ | and made it holy, because on it /定為聖日、因為在這日 |
| שָׁבַת֙ מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים לַעֲשֽׂוֹת | he rested from all the work of creating that he had done /神歇了他一切創造的工、就安息了 |
| אֵ֣לֶּה תוֹלְד֧וֹת הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ בְּהִבָּֽרְאָ֑ם | This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created /創造天地的來歷 |
| בְּי֗וֹם עֲשׂ֛וֹת יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶ֥רֶץ וְשָׁמָֽיִם | when the LORD God made the earth and the heavens /在耶和華 神造天地的日子、乃是這樣 |
| וכֹ֣ל׀ שִׂ֣יחַ הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה טֶ֚רֶם יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֔רֶץ | Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth /野地還沒有草木 |
| וְכָל־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה טֶ֣רֶם יִצְמָ֑ח | and no plant had yet sprung up /田間的菜蔬還沒有長起來 |
| כִּי֩ לֹ֙א הִמְטִ֜יר יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ | and there was no one to work the ground /也沒有人耕地 |
| וְאֵ֖ד יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ | and watered the whole surface of the ground /滋潤遍地 |
| וַיִּיצֶר֩ יְהוָ֙ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֗ם עָפָר֙ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה | Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground /耶和華 神用地上的塵土造人 |
| וַיִּפַּ֥ח בְּאַפָּ֖יו נִשְׁמַ֣ת חַיִּ֑ים | and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life /將生氣吹在他鼻孔裡 |
| וַֽיְהִ֥י הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּֽה | and the man became a living being /他就成了有靈的活人、名叫亞當 |
| ויִּטַּ֞ע יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים גַּן־בְעֵ֖דֶן מִקֶּ֑דֶם | Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden /耶和華 神在東方的伊甸立了一個園子 |
| וַיָּ֣שֶׂם שָׁ֔ם אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָֽר | and there he put the man he had formed /把所造的人安置在那裡 |
| וַיַּצְמַ֞ח יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה כָּל־עֵ֛ץ | The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground /耶和華 神使各樣的樹從地裡長出來 |
| נֶחְמָ֥ד לְמַרְאֶ֖ה וְט֣וֹב לְמַאֲכָ֑ל | trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food /可以悅人的眼目、其上的果子好作食物 |
| וְעֵ֤ץ הַֽחַיִּים֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַגָּ֔ן וְעֵ֕ץ הַדַּ֖עַת ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע | In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil /園子當中又有生命樹、和分別善惡的樹 |
| ונָהָרּ֙ יֹצֵ֣א מֵעֵ֔דֶן לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת אֶת־הַגָּ֑ן | A river watering the garden flowed from Eden/ 有河從伊甸流出來滋潤那園子 |
| וּמִשָּׁם֙ יִפָּרֵ֔ד וְהָיָ֖ה לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה רָאשִֽׁים | from there it was separated into four headwaters/ 從那裡分為四道 |
