Integers
Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Integers Rules
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Integers | All numbers on a number line, positive or negative. |
Absolute Value | The value of an integer based on how far it is away from zero. |
Adding Integers With the SAME signs | If the signs are the same, the you will add the integers and take the sign of the largest absolute value. |
Adding Integers With DIFFERENT signs | If the signs are different, opposite, or not the same, then you will subtract the integers and take the sign of the largest absolute value. |
Subtracting Integers | In subtraction whenever there are two negative signs or double negatives together, you will change BOTH to addition, then follow the addition rules. |
Multiplying/Dividing Integers With Same Signs | If the signs are the same, the product/quotient will be positive. |
Multiplying/Dividing Integers With Different Signs | If the signs are different, the product/quotient will be negative. |
