Term | Definition |

Nonprinting characters | Symbols for certain formating commands. |
Open punctuation | No punctuation. |
Preview | Allows you to check your document for proofs before you print. |
Allows you to print your document using a near by printer. | |
Quick access toolbar | Gives you quick access to things on the toolbar that are used most often. |
Redo | If you undid something that you didn"t want to this will fix that. |
Ribbon | Contains many options for you to change the way you look at your document or the way your document looks. |
Save | Saves to whatever you last saved the document to or to your documents folder. |
Save as | Saves to a certain folder or place that you choose. |
Screen tip | Name of the command you are about to use. |
Settings | Allows you to change many of the different objects and buttons. |
Shortcut menu | List of useful commands. |
Tabs | The buttons at the top of the Ribbon that when you click on them they bring up more options to edit or view your document with. |
Undo | Fixes a mistake that you may have made. |
Word wrap | Automatically wraps text to next line. |
AutoComplete | Automatically completes the date, month, and week. |
Backstage view | Quick access commands. |
Badges | What pops up when you use a keytip. |
Block Style | Text aligned to the left margin with the date, inside address, salutation, body of the letter, closing, and signiture. |
Command | An instruction that you give Word. |
Connection Status | Helps as long as you are connected to the Internet. |
Menu | List of options. |
Dialog box | Additional information that you can change. |
Dialog box launcher | Brings up a dialog box. |
Groups | Collection of related Word commands. |
I-beam | When your cursor goes over the insertion point and it makes an I. |
Insertion point | Where you can begin writing. |
Key Tips | Replaces some keyboard shortcuts. |
Mini toolbar | A small toolbar containing most of the things the bigger one does. |
Mixed punctuation | Needs a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing. |
