What are some technological advances mentioned? Radio Broadcasting, Phonograph, film with sound
Describe European folk music. European music has chords, piano accompaniment, long flowing melodies, gentle beat, and no syncopation.
Describe African folk music. No chords, plucked/percussion instruments, short phrases with long notes, strong beat, and lots of syncopation.
The upper class listened to different music, often called classical music. Describe classical music. Sheet music performed as parlour song. Classical music were folk songs dressed up and made civilized with the piano.
Folk Music was music of the common people that told stories and preserved the past. It was also a precursor to bluegrass, country, and folk. Name the instrumentation of folk music and its form. Folk music was played with a fiddle ,guitar,and/or banjo. Pentatonic and a strophic. It was a music of song and dance.
What makes up a Rhythm Section? Chordal instrument, percussion, and bass instrument, often accompanied by a vocalist.
What are the key elements of rock style? Verse/chorus form, steady beat med/fast tempo, strong backbeat, rhythm section, and riffs.
Describe the rock STYLE. Loud, provocative, rebellious, sex topics, and honesty expression.
What is ragtime? Black interpretation of white music
