How does wind phlegm manifest? Dizziness, n/v, numbness of the limbs, coughing, coughing of phlegm, a rattling sound in the throat and aphasia
How does phlegm-heat manifest? Expectoration of yellow sticky phlegm, a red face, dry mouth and lips, restlessness, T: red w/ sticky-yellow coating, P: rapid-rolling
How does cold-phlegm manifest? Expectoration of white-watery phlegm, a cold feeling in the limbs and back, nausea, T: pale w/ white-wet coating, P: deep-rolling-slow
How does damp-phlegm manifest? Expectoration of very profuse phlegm which is white and sticky, no appetite, no thirst, a feeling of oppression of chst and epigastrium, T: sticky tongue coating, P: rolling
How does Qi-phlegm manifest? Non-substantial, feeling of swelling in the throat (but no actual swelling) a difficulty in swallowing and a feeling of oppression of chest and diaphragm
How do phlegm fluids manifest? Substantial phlegm characterized by very watery and thin fluids
What area is affected w/ phlegm-fluids and what is the key s/s? Abdominal fullness and distention, vomiting of watery fluids; Key Sx: Gurgling sound
What area is affected w/ suspended fluids and what are key s/s? Hypochondrial pain that is worse on coughing and breathing; key Sx: cough, ribcage pain
What area is affected w/ flooding fluids and what are key s/s? Feeling of heaviness in the body, pain in the muscles; Key Sx: Pain, deep heaviness, puffy swelling
