Probable Cause A reasonable belief that a crime has been committed
Arraignment A hearing in which a suspect is charged with a crime and pleads guilty or not guilty
Plea Statement by the accused saying whether they are guilty or not guilty
Plaintiff A person a or group that files a lawsuit
Defendant A person who is accused of a crime or is being sued
District Courts Judge, Original Jurisdiction of misdemeanors(minor crimes), Civil cases for less than 15,000 dollars
Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court Judge, Original Jurisdiction, Hears Juvenile and family cases
Circuit Court Judges with jury, Original Jurisdiction for felony criminal cases and civil cases over 15,000 dollars, Hears appeals from District Court

U.S. Supreme Court Highest authority of any court, Original and Appellate Jurisdiction, Nine Supreme Court judges- serve for life (1 Chief justice and 8 associate justices)
Scarcity The inability to satisfy all wants at the same time
Resources Factors of production that are used in the production of goods and services
Choice Selecting an item or action from a set of alternatives
Opportunity Cost What is given up when a choice is made- the highest valued alternative
Price The amount of money exchanged for a good or service
Incentives Things that incite or motivate you to change your economic behavior
Demand The amount of a good or a service that consumers are willing and able to buy at a certain price
