Emperor the male sovereign or supreme ruler of an empire.
Government the political direction and control exercised over the actions of the members, citizens, or inhabitants of communities, societies, and states; direction of the affairs of a state, community, etc.; political administration.
Daimyo Feudal Japanese lord who was a landowner and typically a noble.
Imperial of the nature or rank of an emperor or supreme ruler.
Social Structure Organization of people into ranked groups, typically based on job, birth, or wealthy. A synonym of social class.
Imperialism the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies.
Shogun The military leader of Japan. An overlord of all the daimyos. In theory, he was responsible to the emperor. In reality, he ruled Japan.
Shogunate Government rule by the shogun.
Industrialization the large-scale introduction of manufacturing, advanced technical enterprises, and other productive economic activity into an area, society, country, etc.
Code of Conduct A set of guidelines that governed personal behavior.
Martial Arts Any of the traditional forms of self-defense or combat that utilize physical skill and coordination without weapons, as karate, aikido, judo, or kung fu.
Honor high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank. Synonyms: reputation, integrity, and meit.
Seppuku Ritual suicide that only a samurai could perform.
