1 st Punic War Rome fought with Carthage for control over water trade routes- most battles at sea - Rome wins the islands of Sicily , Sardinia, and Corsica
3rd Punic War Cato (Roman Senator)encourage Rome to attack Carthage to keep its army from attacking Rome.Rome wins destroys Carthage and gains control of North Africa , Spain, Greece ,and Macedonia.
