Equator | an imaginary line that equally separates the earth into northern and southern hemispheres. |
Prime Meridian | an imaginary line that goes from the North Pole to the South Pole and passes through Greenwich, England. |
latitude | an angle measure north or south of the equator that is used to determine location. |
longitude | an angle measure east or west of the prime meridian that is used to determine location. |
compass rose | a circle located on maps or charts that identifies direction. |
population | the total number of people living in a country, city, or any district or area. |
peninsula | a body of land surrounded on three sides by water. |
continent | huge landmass; there are seven that make up the world. |
