Color Terms

QuestionAnswer
What is a monochromatic color scheme? All the tints, shades and tones of one hue.
What is an analogous color scheme? Analogous colors are colors that are adjacent or next to one another on a color wheel.
What is an accented neutral color scheme? When all colors are neutrals (blacks, browns, grays) besides one color that adds a pop of color.
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel? Complementary color scheme.
How many colors are in a split complementary color scheme? Three colors.
Name the primary colors. Red, blue and yellow.
What is the value of a color? Variation in the perception of a color or colors brightness.
What is the intensity of a color mean? Color intensity is the degree at which a color appears like its brightness or lightness.
What is the hue? Another word for color.
How do you make a tint? Add white to the hue.
How do you make a shade? Add black to the hue.
What are the warm colors? Red, orange, yellow.
What are the cool colors? Blue, green, violet.
What are the neutral colors? Brown, black, white and gray.
What is unique about the primary colors? They can not be created by mixing any colors together.
Name three tertiary colors. Red-orange, yellow-green , red-violet.
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? Primary color and then secondary color.
What is an other name for a tertiary color? Intermediate colors.
What is a triadic color scheme? Using a triangle of colors on the color wheel (red, blue and yellow)
