ECE1-04 Professionalism
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Accomplishments | Things you have done that show your skills and abilities. |
Action Verbs | Words that help show your commitment to action, often used on a Resume'. |
Background Check | Verification with law enforcement and other records of your past behavior, etc. |
Degree (Associate, Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate) | A document that verifies your knowledge of a particular topic, subject, or expertise (2,4,6,8 years) |
Differentiate | Making things appropriately different to meet current needs. |
Dress for Success | Wearing conservative styles and colors to indicate your commitment to the work at hand. |
Etiquette | Using excellent manners when dealing with all people. |
Interview | A face to face opportunity to convince an employer of your qualifications, etc. |
Phone Interview | Using a phone conversation to convince employers of your qualifications, etc. |
Job Objective | A concise statement of what job you are applying for. |
Overqualified | Having far more qualifications and experience than is needed for the job. |
Oversell | Trying too hard to convince someone of your qualifications |
Professionalism (dress, language, body language, etc.) | How you portray yourself to others or are perceived by others |
Professional Ethics for Teachers | A standard expectation for the behavior and interactions for those who work in educational jobs |
Observation | Using a practice of formal or informal watching and making notes of students and teachers in a learning environment. Examples: Anecdotal, Time Sampling, Frequency Counts, Running records, Checklists, etc. |
NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) | The governing body for professionals who work with young children |
GA PSC ( Georgia Professional Standards Commission) | The governing body for teachers in Georgia who manage and enforce professional ethics and credentials |
Mandated Reporter | Any person who works with children is required to report neglect or abuse suspicions |
Diversity | Being accepting of many cultures, etc. |
Codes of Conduct | Specific details about how professionals should behave and interact with others |
Values | Beliefs and attitudes about what is important |
Ethics | Doing the right thing even if no one else will know |
Confidentiality | Maintaining privacy |
Communication | How we give and receive information |
Character | A quality exemplified by moral strength |
