2. What are the principles of design? balance, rhythm, proportion, emphasis, harmony
3. What is the principle repetition? repetition is when you repeat something. ex:color, object, line, shapes, etc
4. How does texture affect color? smooth textures: reflect light and look brighter and intense Rough textures: absorb light and look dark or dull
5. What do curved lines suggest? coziness and comfort and relates to nature
6. What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance? horizontal: allusion of width vertical: allusion of height radial: curvy
7. What do diagonal lines suggest? movement and activity
8. What is space? space is what you start with and what you are dealing with in designs
9. What are the four types of rhythm? regular: repetition occurring at regular intervals Graduated: faster or slower repetition Random: neutral color scheme nut repeated is one color Gradation: ombre; big to large, dark to light
10. What is asymmetrical balance? Example? splitting a pic down the middle & objects on either side aren't the same but have objects that are visually equal in weight which balance the pic. Ex: candles on left of fire place mantel and the equal visual weight of pic frames on the right
11. What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? horizontal:allusion width-calm, relaxing vertical: allusion of height- stable, strong
12. What is the golden mean? ratio of something is 3:5
13. What is the difference between shape and form? shape: 2-D form: 3-D
14. What are the five types of balance? asymmetrical, symmetrical, radial, vertical, and horizontal
15. What does unity or harmony mean? everything in the room or pic works together
16. What are the two things texture involves? texture involves how something feels and how something looks to feel
17. What are the four types of line? vertical, horizontal, diagonal, curved
18. What is proportion? when something is equally distributed
19. Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? asymmetrical
20. What is symmetrical balance? Example? when something is the same on both sides. ex: two exact candles placed on the left and ride sides of a table
21. What is emphasis? What is another name for it? what is jumping out in the picture focal point
22. What happens when you use a continuous line? your eye follows it around the area wherever it leads
23. What is another name for symmetrical balance? formal balance
24. What is another name for asymmetrical balance? informal balance
25. What is the difference between gradation and radiation? gradation: changing it in one way. going from big to small or dark to light etc. radiation: when something starts in the middle and pokes out or comes our from the sides
