What are the elements of design? Line,shape/form,color,texture and space
What are the principles of design? Rhythm,emphasis,proportion,balance and harmony
What is the principle repetition? it's when the same line, shape/form, color or texture appears multiple times in a room
How does texture affect color? smooth surfaces reflect light and make it look lighter while rough surfaces absorb light and make it look darker
What do curved lines suggest? Soft, natural, comfortable and delicate
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance? horizontal balance is when the right and left are the same. Vertical balance is when the top and bottom are the same.
What do diagonal lines suggest? action, movement and excitment
What is space? area(3D)
What are the four types of rhythm? gradation, radiation, repetition and continuous line
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? it's when the items are visually balanced. For instance when i have a pineapple in one hand and 4 oranges in the other
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? horizontal goes left and right vertical goes up and down
What is the golden mean? 3:5
What is the difference between shape and form? shape is 2D, form is 3D
What are the five types of balance? formal balance, informal balance, horizontal balance, vertical balance and radial balance.
What does unity or harmony mean? it's the combination of principles and elements of design that compliment each other.
What are the two things texture involves? visual and touch
What are the four types of line? curved, vertical, horizontal and diagonal
What is proportion? the way in which something relates to the rest of the design
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? diagonal
What is symmetrical balance? Example? when both parts are mirror images of each other
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? It's how one item stands out in a room. It's also called focal point
What happens when you use a continuous line? your eyes follow it around.
What is another name for symmetrical balance? formal balance
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? informal balance
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? gradation is when an object goes from small to big or light to dark and only one element is changed. Radiation is when the pattern starts in the middle and radiates out.
