Amendments

The bill of rights and the 13 amendments

First Amendment Freedoms Congress cannot make laws about religion or creating a national religion;
First Amendment Freedoms cannot block freedom of speech or press;
First Amendment Freedoms people have the right to assemble
First Amendment Freedoms People can petition the government to address complaints or correct wrongs( redress of grievances)
Second Amendment Bearing arms the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed
Third Amendment Quartering No soldier, in time of peace or war, be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner
Fourth Amendment Search and seizures the right of the people to be secure in their persons, house, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures. There must be a warrant.
Fifth Amendment Due Process No person shall be held for a capital crime unless on the indictment of a grand Jury
Fifth Amendment Due Process no person can be tried twice for the same offence
Fifth Amendment Due Process No person shall be witness against themselves
Fifth Amendment Due Process No person shall be deprived of life, Liberty, or property without due process of the law
Fifth Amendment Due Process Private property shall not be taken for public use without just compensation
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings In all criminal prosecutions, the accused has the right to a speedy trial with an impartial jury of their peers.
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings In all criminal prosecutions, the accused has the right to a public trial.
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings In all criminal prosecutions, the accused has the right trial in the state and district they are accused.
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings The accused has the right to be informed about the crimes they are being accused of.
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings The accused has the right to face the witness against them and get witness in their favor.
Sixth Amendment Criminal proceedings The accused has the right to have assistance of counsel, a lawyer, in his defense.
Seventh Amendment Civil Trials Any dispute over $20, the right of a trial by jury shall be preserved.
Eighth Amendment Punishment for Crimes Excessive bail shall not be required
Eighth Amendment Punishment for Crimes Excessive fines shall not be imposed
Eighth Amendment Punishment for Crimes No Cruel or unusual punishments shall be inflicted.
Ninth Amendment unenumerated Rights The enumeration in the constitutions, of certain rights, shall not be constructed to deny or disparage others retained by the people
Tenth Amendment Powers of the State Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor Prohibited by the states, are reserved to the states or to the people
