| Amendment 1 | Freedom of religion, speech (expression), press, assembly, and to petition the government, |
| Amendment 2 | People in the United States are allowed to have and own guns. The right to bear arms. |
| Amendment 3 | No soldiers will be quartered (housed) in public family homes. |
| Amendment 4 | Police cannot search or take anything from your home, car, or person without a search warrant or probable cause. |
| Amendment 5 | Due Process- Grand Jury Indictment- no person can be charged with a crime unless the charges have been brought by a grand jury. A person does not have to testify against him/herself. Double Jeopardy- a person cannot be tried for the same crime twice. |
| Amendment 6 | The right to a speedy, public trial. Also the right to have representation in court (an attorney) |
| Amendment 7 | The right to a trial by jury for civil cases in federal courts where the value argued about exceeds $20. |
| Amendment 8 | No excessive bail or cruel and unusual punishment. Bails, fines, and punishments must be fair and humane. |
| Amendment 9 | Gives protection to the rights of the people that are not otherwise written in the Constitution. People have other rights that are not listed in the Constitution. |
| Amendment 10 | Reassures the people that the national government will not take over the states governing ability. (The powers not given to the national government are given to individual states). |
