| Surrender and Regrant | Henry VIII's policy of controlling Ireland |
| Undertakers | Settlers who received land during the plantations and promised to obey the rules of the plantation |
| Servitors | Former soldiers during the 9 years war who were paid in land for their service in the army |
| Bawn | Enclosed, defensive stone yard built by planters during the Ulster Plantation. |
