Where was the Constitutional Convention held? The State's Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Why was the Constitutional Convention held? The Constitutional Convention was held, because the States saw that the Articles of Confederation was not working so they tried to fix them.
What happened at the Constitutional Convention? At the Constitutional Convention they tried to fix the Articles of the Confederation, but failed to do so. In the end they re-wrote the whole constitution.
What were the names of the two plans in The Great Compromise? They were called The New Jersey Plan and The Virginia Plan.
What was the nickname of The Virginia Plan? The Large State Plan.
What was the nickname of The New Jersey Plan? The Small State Plan.
What kind of legislature was proposed by The Virginia Plan? The Virginia Plan wanted a bicameral legislature, which means that they wanted a two house legislature.
What kind of legislature was proposed by The New Jersey Plan? The New Jersey wanted an unicameral legislature. This means that they wanted a one house legislature.
What type of representation did The Virginia Plan want? The Virginia Plan wanted representation based on population.
What type of representation did The New Jersey want? The New Jersey Plan wanted representation equal two per state.
What also did The Virginia Plan want in the constitution? The Virginia Plan wanted to give the majority of the power to the federal government. The Virginia Plan wanted three branches of government Executive, Legislative, Judicial.
What also did The New Jersey Plan want in the constitution? They also wanted to give the majority of the power to the central government. They gave the central government two additional powers. They gave the central government the power to tax. They also gave the central government the power to regulate trade.
What did they put in the Constitution? The Great Compromise that every state regardless of it's size would have an equal vote in the upper house of the legislature. In the lower house, each state would have the number of representatives based on the state's population.
Why was the 3/5 Compromise needed? The southern states wanted slaves to be counted in the population, but the northern states wanted tax to be used for the population.
What was the compromise? The compromise was that they would take 3/5 of the slaves and count them in the population.
