Term | Definition |

Gross annual income (GAI) | The total income earned over a one-year period before deductions are taken off |
Gross monthly income (GMI) | The total income earned over a one-month period before deductions are taken off (1/12 of GAI) |
Net annual income (NAI) | The amount of a year's income after deductions are taken off |
Net monthly income (NMI) | The amount of a month's income after deductions are taken off |
Stock | A piece of a corporation that is sold to the public in shares |
Bond | An IOU that is issued by companies, municipalities, or the federal government in exchange for loans that will be returned by a set date. |
Mutual funds | A collection of stocks/bonds of various companies |
Budget | A record of income, spending, and a plan for managing money |
Credit card | A card that authorizes the holder to buy products now, but pay for them later |
Debit card | A card similar to credit, but money is immediately withdrawn from one's bank account |
Sales tax | A tax added on to the purchase of certain items/products |
