Term | Definition |

gross annual income (GAI) | total pay made in one year before any deduction have been taken |
gross monthly income (GMI) | total amount of earnings made over a month before anything has been taken from it |
net annual income (NAI) | the income amount left after a year's worth of deductions have been taken |
net monthly income (NMI) | the amount of money left after a month's deduction has been taken |
stocks | a share of a corporation sold to the public |
bonds | an IOU issued by a company, municipality, or the federal government exchange for a loan from and investor that will be rapid with a set rate of return |
mutual funds | a collection of stocks or bonds of various corperations |
budget | a record of income and spending and a plan for managing money |
credit card | a card authorizing the holder to buy goods and services that can be paid for later (by now, pay later) |
debit card | a card that looks like a credit card but operates like cash; money is immediately subtracted from the card holders bank account (buy now, pay now) |
sales tax | a percentage tax imposed on the retail price of most items (A source of income for governments) |
