Amendments

AmendmentDescription
Amendment 1 Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, and freedom of assembly.
Amendment 2 The right to keep and bear arms.
Amendment 3 No soldier shall be housed without the permission of the owner.
Amendment 4 No person or their property should be searched without evidence against them.
Amendment 5 Rights of accused persons.
Amendment 6 The right to a speedy trial.
Amendment 7 A person sued for more than $20 is provided a jury, a much larger sum would make the case go to a federal court.
Amendment 8 A person pays money to the court that they will be present for trial if accused. They are ensured that they will not receive unreasonable punishment.
Amendment 9 A persons rights are not limited to the ones mentioned.
Amendment 10 Powers not listed in the constitution for the federal government go to the states.
Amendment 11 The right to a lawsuit against the United States
Amendment 12 Election of president and Vice President.
Amendment 13 Banning slavery and giving congress the power to enforce the ban.
Amendment 14 All people born in the United States are citizens and citizenship to former slaves.
Amendment 15 The right for everyone to vote.
Amendment 16 The ability for congress to collect taxes on income.
Amendment 17 The ability for the people to elect senators.
Amendment 18 The prohibition of alcoholic beverages.
Amendment 19 Any gender can vote.
Amendment 20 The time between election and inauguration shortened.
Amendment 21 Getting rid of the 18th amendment.
Amendment 22 The president cannot be reelected twice.
Amendment 23 People in Washington, D.C. Can vote.
Amendment 24 Removed the tax on the ability to vote in the southern states.
Amendment 25 The president chooses a new Vice President if he somehow leaves office. If he connot pick a Vice President congress will.
Amendment 26 The new minimum voting age is now 18.
Amendment 27 When salaries change for members of congress a election of representatives shall happen.
