Name Description
Abigail Adams (1744-1818) Born in Massachusetts. Married John Adams. Raised 4 kids. Requested that the farmers of the Constitution would "remember the ladies", and told Adams "all men would be tyrants if they could". She believed there was need for the Alien and Sedition Acts.
John Adams (1735-1826) Graduated from Harvard and became a lawyer. Emphasized that "Facts are stubborn things." Believed in Liberty. Drafted Massachusetts Constitution and Declaration of Rights. served as continental congress. Signed the Treaty of Paris.
John Adams (1735-1826) With Benjamin Franklin and John Jay and wrote to James Madison to adding the bill of rights. First vice president to George Washington and second president of the U.S. made the Alien and Sedition act and signed the judiciary act of 1801.
John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) Elected to congress in 1803. Served under James Monroe office. Ran for president in 1824. Clays and Adams alliance was called "Corrupt Bargain". Lost presidency in 1828. He defended the African passage and fought against "Gag rule". (against slavery.)
Samuel Adams (1722-1803) Massachusetts Revolutionary leader and propagandist who organized opposition to British policies after 1764; radical member of Sons of Liberty, worried that violence of group would discredit it; proposed united plea for repeal of Townshend Duties.
Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) 1st woman's right convention was in 1852 and said "the right which woman needed above every other". Her, Elizabeth Stanton, Lucretia Mott, and Lucy Stone founded the National Women suffrage Association. 1869 (14th & 15th) "Privileges& Immunities" (14th)
Hugo Black (1886-1971) Associate Justice of the Supreme Court appoint by president Roosevelt in 1937. "Strict Constructionist" reading of the Constitution. "Total incorporation" whish is the protection of the Bill of Rights.
