TermDefinition
wind Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale. On the surface of the Earth, wind consists of the bulk movement of air.
jet stream fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmosphere of some planets, including Earth.
Coriolis effect Coriolis effect is a deflection of moving objects when the motion is described relative to a rotating reference frame.
local wind one of a number of winds that are influenced predominantly by the topographic features of a relatively small region.
global wind The globe is encircled by six major wind belts, three in each hemisphere. From pole to equator, they are the polar easterlies, the westerlies, and the trade winds.
